La nueva remesa de títulos anunciada ayer por el Festival de Toronto, que se celebrará entre el 8 y el 18 de septiembre, ha traído varias buenas noticias para los cineastas españoles. La sección Vanguard del certamen canadiense acogerá el estreno mundial del thriller de ciencia ficción Colossal, la nueva película de Nacho Vigalondo. En la película, Anne Hathaway interpreta a Gloria, una mujer que descubre que una serie de catastróficos acontecimientos están conectados con la crisis mental que está sufriendo. El reparto de la película también incluye a Jason Sudeikis, Dan Stevens, Austin Stowell y Tim Blake Nelson.

Por su parte, en la sección de Documentales, junto a los nuevos trabajos de Errol Morris o Werner Herzog, se presentará Política, manual de instrucciones de Fernando León de Aranoa. El documental, que se estrenó en salas el pasado 3 de junio, un seguimiento detallado de la construcción de Podemos. Un “manual práctico sobre cómo elaborar y comunicar un proyecto político en tan solo un año”.

En la sección TIFF Cinematheque, dedicada a la recuperación de clásicos restaurados, se verá Informe general sobre algunas cuestiones de interés para una proyección pública de Pere Portabella, en la que el cineasta catalán radiografió, en 1977, las tensiones y esperanzas sociopolíticas de la Transición española a la democracia.

Por último, en la sección de cortometrajes, se verá el film de animación Decorado de Alberto Vázquez, que participó en la pasada edición de la Quincena de Realizadores del Festival de Cannes. Decorado narra “una fábula existencialista, protagonizada por animales antropomorfos, sobre el destino y la libertad del ser humano”.
